Sixty Seconds of Beauty: Ed Video production and installation project
We all have our own interpretations of what makes for a beautiful moment. For some of us it might be the sight of a family member, for others it's watching the sun poke out from behind tree leaves, or feeling the steam rising up from their morning coffee. "Sixty Seconds of Beauty” is a community-based production project that will help artists, community groups, neighbourhood groups, businesses and culturally diverse groups to share their own moments of beauty. Participants will receive basic instruction, video equipment, and a supportive artistic forum to create and present their 60 second videos. Ed Video will be setting up creative Kiosks at community events, we have established partnerships with most of the area festivals, and we will be going out to group activities to bring media art into our community. After we accumulate all the videos we will be posting them to the Internet and creating a public installation using new technology Microtiles from Christie Digital. The workshop phase will run from September 2011 to January 2013 and the presentation phase will include a minimum of three public venues where an installation will run at least until January 2014. Part of our documentation process for projects is to produce a book at the end.
Ed Video is a charitable artist run centre here in Guelph. Our mission is to foster the creation, exhibition and appreciation of media art. We have applied for funding from the Ministry of Culture Cultural Strategic Investment fund which funds 50% of projects, and we are looking to raise the other half. We have a commitment from Christie Digital for discounts on the microtiles, we have applied to the Guelph Community Foundation for support for the workshop phase, and we are looking for the final pieces of the puzzle to be able to complete the whole project. Specifically we are still looking for $4,000 in sponsorship dollars and we can offer signage and promotional opportunities at the creative kiosks, recognition on posters and in the documentation at the final installation and recognition in the book documenting the whole project.
Why should you sponsor 60 seconds of Beauty? It’s an exciting project and will align your brand with the arts, enriching your involvement in the community, and create positive associations for your brand, as well as brand exposure across the community at festivals and community events, to anticipated total audiences of over 30,000. Ed video is a strong organization, with an active membership and a large social network. We have been in the Guelph Community for 35 years and we have the capacity to make your sponsorship dollars work.
If you feel you would be a good fit with our programming or productions please email Ed Video Executive Director Elizabeth Dent at liz@edvideo.org.
