EVMAC Members’ Screening:
A Fork in the Road

Life is about choices. Art is about choices

This year’s members’ project theme, A Fork in the Road, might encourage
members to reflect artistically about the ramifications of choices in our lives,
our environment, our art, our social interactions or even our deaths. Alternatively,
more pragmatic approaches may also be considered. We urge members to
respond on this topic through a variety of mediums and to consider installations,
or Web-based materials, as well as traditional documentary or narrative works.

The members’ project is part of our annual exhibition and screening series which
presents local, regional, national and international work that investigates
contemporary trends and practices in media art. We promote a strong curatorial
and artistic practice that responds to critical issues, is explorative in nature, and
recognizes the work of culturally diverse and Aboriginal artists. We support the
work of artists at all stages of their development. Our aim is to also ensure our
presentations address the needs of diverse audiences, are relevant in the
community, and support the development of our producing members.

All participants in the members’ project will be able to use their volunteer
credits at 100% for this project. To encourage participation, we are cutting
down on the paperwork. Please just let us know at tech@edvideo.org if you
plan to participate in the project. If twelve or more submissions are received,
we will use a selection process.

An opening reception for all works will be held on May 4th at 8pm, Dean Palmer
Photography, 26 Eramosa Rd., Guelph.
