Day for Night
In this instalment of Drop-Frame we'll be working with Day for Night shooting. This technique does exactly what it's name implies: fakes a night time setting that is being shot in the day time.
This technique requires a mix of shooting practice and editing effects.
There's no jibber-jabber in this session. From start to finish we'll be working with cameras hands-on to figure out just what it takes to make 12pm look like 12am.

Green Screen Shooting
We'll set up Ed Video's portable green screen and lights and experiment with keying out backgrounds. Participants will use the lights, cameras, and then post-production facilities to learn how to shoot effective green screen shots.

Live-Motion Animation
Before the generation arrival of the DSLRs which could shoot amazing video quality, there was a movement of rebellious shooters taking advantage of digital photo technology to make high-quality music videos and short films.
These pioneers (who were admittedly recycling old tricks) stitched together sequences of still photos to create moving images which had a film-like quality, and a unique motion aesthetic.
Participants of this session will try their hands at live-motion animation using digital still cameras and editing software.

Playing with Space
Drop-Frame plays with space. This session's focus is on setting up a shot to effectively show the same person in two places, and how to manipulate the appearance of space itself.
As always, participants will be mixing production practices with editing techniques to pull this one off.

May 26th, 2010    6pm-8pm
Playing with Time
Participants will be challenged to build their own time machines using video and post-production techniques.
Shoot footage that transcends, exaggerates and manipulates time.
