Please register your team by April 21st at 5pm. It is possible to register late, or on the morning of the event. However, there will be limitations to the number of teams that can compete. Register by emailing angus@edvideo.org

Teams
Teams can consist of up to 8 people. This includes anyone who appears in, or contributes creatively or with technical skill, to the production of your film challenge video.
Individuals may support your team with props, costumes, locations, or equipment without being considered as part of your team.

Time Limit
The total running time, including credits, of all entries should be no longer than 6:00 minutes. Entries which exceed the time limit may or may not be screened at the discretion of the challenge organizer, and will not be considered by the jury.

Deadline
The absolute final deadline will be announced at the launch. In theory the deadline will be 9am on Sunday April 25th, but if the launch takes longer than expected the deadline will be matched accordingly.

Technology
Shoot or create your video using any technology you can/want/have to use. There are no limitations on how you create your film or video. There are limitations on how you may submit your film or video.

Submission *IMPORTANT*
The finished videos will NOT be screened in High-Definition.
Best formats to submit on:
  • Mini-DV cassette (standard definition, 4:3, 16:9 or letterboxed)
  • Data DVD containing an MPEG2 File
  • High-quality Quicktime (.mov)
  • High-quality AVI

Other acceptable formats (expect some quality loss)
  • VHS
  • Playable DVD (please leave a black space of 10 seconds before the video starts)
Further information will be available on the day of the launch. If your team will not be able to submit in one of the above formats please inform Angus in advance to make arrangements. Tapes and DVDs will be returned on request.

Copyright
Competitors are expected to use only material (music, images, logos, trademarks, video) which they have the express consent to use for the purposes of the challenge, or may use under "fair use" practices. Discovery of intentional copyright infringement may result in disqualification from jury decisions.

Graphic or Mature Content
The film challenge isn't exactly a family event, but we would like the screening portion to be friendly to all competitors (which may include children). We are not placing restrictions on swearing, violence, or nudity, but ask that all competitors use their better judgement.
As a guideline, ask yourself if the content you are creating might be suitable for prime-time television. If the answer is definitely no, then you may want to reconsider your approach.
Overly graphic or mature content may be withheld from the screening, or be preceded by a warning, at the discretion of the challenge organizer.
