Video Distribution 101 was held on Thursday, November 21st from 7-8pm 
with Kiera Boult from VTAPE
 

Vtape is Canada’s leading artist-run, not-for-profit distributor of films and videos by independent artists. The organization represents more than 5000 historical and contemporary works by artists from across Canada to an international client base of galleries, museums, media arts festivals, educational institutions, and broadcasters.

This workshop offers participants tools for navigating not-for-profit distribution, the submission process and developing a distribution strategy. Designed for emerging to mid-career artists, filmmakers, and cultural workers, this workshop will offer an overview of the current distribution landscape of media arts in Canada.


About the Instructor

Kiera Boult is an interdisciplinary artist and performer from Hamilton, based in Toronto,  Boult’s practice utilizes camp and comedy to skeptically address issues that surround the role and/or identity of the artist and the institution. In 2019, Boult was the recipient of the Hamilton Emerging Visual Artist Award. Her work has been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and Trinity Square Video. She has participated in the Art Gallery of York University’s final Performance Bus, 7a*11D’s 7a*md8 – ON LINE residency and Life of a Crap Head's Doored. She holds a BFA in Criticism and curatorial practice from OCAD University, and is currently Vtape's Submissions, Collections & Outreach Coordinator.
