A one-night special viewing of Memorial by Tasman Richardson in Paris, France
Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 6pm-9pm
Cité Internationale des Arts - Atelier 8107
18 Rue de l'Hôtel de ville, 75180 Paris
Memorial is a video projection that features multiple cinematic representations of Joan of Arc set within the Rose Window of Notre Dame Cathedral. The faces express a range of emotions as they struggle to look away from the burning flames in the centre of the window. These two icons of French history collide and are convoluted to have their original significance altered through continual revisionism and retelling.
Memorial was first shown during Tasman Richardson's large-scale solo exhibition at MOCCA in 2011. This project is presented in Paris just half a kilometer from the actual Notre Dame Cathedral, in celebration of Tasman's Honourary Lifetime Membership award from Ed Video in 2014.
