DEL BEL : http://delbelmusic.com/
Del Bel began as a personal recording project of Tyler Belluz, evolved
into a collective of players ranging from all types of disciplines, and
finally morphed into the live band it is today. Momentum accelerated
when Ontario Arts Council decided to fund the project in their Popular
Music Grant Program in 2011. Near the middle stage of recording, two
Hollywood productions hired Tyler to compose music for a short and full
length feature film respectively. Along with unreleased material, Del
Bel lent some cuts from their record Oneiric to each.
Getting
attention after the initial handful of shows, Del Bel released their
debut album November 2011 on Out Of Sound Records. Stylistically, Del
Bel embodies an eerie cinematic sound infused with darkened soul and
surf rock qualities. Members and performers on Oneiric also play with Do
Make Say Think, the Happiness Project, Bry Webb & the Providers,
Lisa Bozikovic, The Flowers of Hell, Ohbijou, The Sunparlour Players, L
Con and Gregory Pepper & His Problems. Oneiric was voted one of the
25 best albums of 2011 by the Toronto Star’s Ben Rayner.
FRESH SHOW : http://freshsnowmusic.com/
Fresh Snow play an immersive form of minimalist psychedelic rock rooted
in the sounds of influential 1970s German groups such as Faust, Neu!,
Can and Amon Duul II, with an affinity for cut-and-paste electronics,
heavy rock distortion and the occasional pop melody. They view their
music as a distinctly Canadian take on this global movement.
Though Fresh Snow is a new project which came together only recently in
2011, it is made up of experienced members of Toronto’s independent
music community - Tim Condon, Bradley Davis (Lake Holiday), Andy Lloyd
(The Bicycles) and Jon Maki (Tropicalia). Tim Condon studied to be a
sound engineer in his native home of Australia, while Andy Lloyd has
performed as a touring member of Polaris Music Prize winning act Caribou
and currently tours the world with Warp Records act Born Ruffians. The
group is often augmented by guest artists and musicians, who add horns,
strings, visual art, and projections to their live show and recordings.
Some of these players have worked with Do Make Say Think, Del Bel,
Vitaminsforyou, Triple Gangers and more.
MOST PEOPLE : http://
Most People is a pastoral pop project from Torontonians and
multi-instrumentalists Brandon DeGroote and Paul McEachern – relative
newcomers to the Toronto music community. Based around a guitar/bass
foundation, they incorporate programmed electronics, double-drumming,
and harmonized vocals into their live stage act – a truly mesmerizing
display of musical multi-tasking. In December 2012, Most People
self-released their self-titled debut album at a Wavelength-presented
event at art space CineCycle, and the release set the Toronto indie
music blogosphere ablaze with positive reviews.

Toronto – Wavelength goes on the road in June!
The Wavelength Music Series is a legendary institution in the Toronto
independent music community, with a 13 year track record of creating
accessible, genre-smashing live concerts that have become a crucial
incubator for emerging Canadian artists. 21st century indie breakout
acts from Broken Social Scene and Feist to Grimes and METZ performed
legendary early shows as part of the Wavelength series, and playing the
Wavelength stage has become a "rite of passage” for an entire generation
of musical artists.
Wavelength also offers a unique live
concert experience, with the addition of projections, installations and
other multi-arts happenings. For the first time, the Wavelength
"experience” will go out on the road in the "Wavelength Roadshow,” which
will hit cities in Eastern Canada in June.
The live musical
line-up will consist of up-and-coming Toronto area artists Del Bel,
Fresh Snow and Most People – all three of whom are participants in
Wavelength’s inaugural "Artist Incubator” pilot project, a collaborative
showcase of artists identified by Wavelength series curators as the
Toronto region’s most original and exciting musical exports. The tour
will also incorporate Wavelength’s in-house projection artist, General
Chaos Visuals and installation artist Alexandra MacKenzie, who will
create a mobile, immersive installation "environment” at each venue. A
local band will also perform on each stop of the tour, to help forge
connections between musical communities.
Three of this tour's
major stops are at significant festivals for independent music. The tour
will stop in Montréal for a presentation at the annual Suoni per il
Popolo Festival presented by the Casa del Popolo venue, one of North
America’s leading festivals for emerging and experimental music, in
addition to a showcase at the Ottawa Explosion Festival co-presented
with the Arboretum Arts Festival, and a hometown Toronto Wavelength
showcase at the North by Northeast (NXNE) Music Festival and Conference.
Other like-minded presenters involved include Homegrown Hamilton,
Kazoo! (Guelph) and Half a Dino (London).
