Unknown Unknowns - Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins - May 12 to June 19, 2011

Exhibits at:

Elora Centre for the Arts - reception Thursday, May 12 at 7pm

Ed Video Gallery - reception Friday, May 13 at 7pm

Ed Video and the Elora Centre for the Arts present 'Unknown Unknowns', a two gallery trans-institutional installation by Jennifer Marman and Daniel Borins.

Continuing with the themes of abstraction and negation inherent in their Total Disinformation Awareness series, Marman and Borins venture into a simulation of the hermetic aesthetics of internet facilities on an architectural level at Ed Video.  In Elora these themes are developed concurrently, yet play out as a cryptic store-house of art-making strategies.  Massive databases are protected from and altered by the viewer.

High security. Surveillance. Indeterminate information.

Since 2000, Marman and Borins have presented their work in Canada and internationally, including exhibitions at The National Gallery of Canada, YYZ Gallery, AGYU, The Toronto Sculpture Garden, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Art Santa Fe, and Galeria Vermelho.
